July 1991

Q. What was your earliest musical experience?    
A.
Playing in a brass band aged 8.

Q. If you could play a different instrument, which one would it be?
A.
Piano. Specifically jazz piano. Being able to sit down and make something up and make it sound great. Also you would never have to carry it!

Q. What would you most like to do if you weren’t a musician?    
A.
From a very early age I've always wanted to play the trumpet but if you had to pin me down I'd have to say helicopter pilot.

A.
A CD by my personal favorite trumpet soloist Maurice Andre.

Q. What is your favourite Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestrarecording?     
A.
I'd have to say our recording of Alpine Symphony with Gerard Schwarz . It sounds so good I can hardly believe it's us.

Q. What is your most memorable moment with the Phil so far?    
A.
Chatting to Sir Paul McCartney about trumpets and my old teacher (my old teacher plays piccolo trumpet on "Penny Lane") is something I can tell my grandkids.

Q. What do you like to do with your free time outside music?    
A.
Walking my dog and playing racket ball (a slightly easier and more enjoyable form of squash)

Q. What do you like most about Liverpool?    
A.
The people. Their sense of humour.
