Fiona Paterson - Flute
Q. What is your instrument/ position/ job title in the Orchestra?
A. Principal 2nd Flute
Q. When did you join the Orchestra?
A. November 2008
Q. What was your earliest musical experience?
A. When I was really young I used to love listening to my mum playing the piano downstairs when I was in bed at night.
Q. If you could play a different instrument, which one would it be?
A. I've always loved the cello. Playing the flute you never get cool bass lines to play so it would have to be something low!
Q. What would you most like to do if you weren’t a musician?
A. An archaeologist or an artist.
Q. What’s on your record/CD/MP3 Player/Spotify Playlist right now?
A. Lots of different music. At the moment I have Regina Spektor, Take That, Michael Buble, Newton Faulkner and bits of Shostakovich , Beethoven and Emmanuel Pahud flute recordings.
Q. What is your favourite Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra recording?
A. Shostakovich 11 that we recorded last year.
Q. What is your most memorable moment with the Orchestra so far?
A. Without a doubt it would be the children’s concerts we do. They're lots of fun and the woodwind get to wear very attractive orange t-shirts!
Q. What do you like to do with your free time outside music?
A. I like being outdoors so I do a lot of running and love walking in the countryside. I really enjoy shopping too and spending time with my family and friends.
Q. What do you like most about Liverpool?
A. The friendly people and great shops!
