"The symphony should be like the world: it must embrace everything" - Mahler's famous quote is borne out by the vast universes his symphonies created, worlds which the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra is celebrating by performing all of his symphonies in 2010-11, plus Mahler's own editions of pieces by Schumann, Beethoven, Schubert and Bach.

In 2009-10 listen to Mahler's Symphonies 1,2 and 3, his Kindertotenlieder and his early song cycles with tenor Ian Bostridge.
