Children’s Workshops

Workshops for Children

Our Children’s and Family workshops help to develop children’s musical skills, with singing, movement, instrumental work, and of course the opportunity meet Liverpool Philharmonic musicians and hear them perform! Each session will be led by two musicians.

To book, call Box Office on 0151 709 3789.

Please note that due to scheduled backstage refurbishment work at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, there will be no workshops in the Hall during the 2014/15 season. Some workshops will take place in Liverpool Central Library in 2015 - details of these will be announced in October.

Information regarding the Percussion music

When you view the music for the Percussion workshop you will notice nine two bar phrases, and a graphic score. It is suggesting that each two bar phrase should be learnt individually, so they may be put together on the day.

When looking at the Graphic score it is for your child to imagine what sounds and pitched relate to the graphics.

It is also suggested that your child practice the phrases with a metronome set at 120bpm so they get a rough marker for what we are aiming for on the day.

They can play the pitched parts on any tuned percussion instrument. While the un-pitched parts can be played on any drum, although the faster rhythms would require 2 hands!

Maximum numbers 20 children + accompanying adults. Music will be available to download from our website from up to one month before workshops are due to take place.

Age ranges are for guidance only. Older or younger siblings are welcome to attend sessions, but if you wish them to participate you will need to pay for a ticket. Due to space limitations, the number of additional adults is limited for each workshop.

Doors open 15 minutes before the workshop starts.
