Liverpool Philharmonic Training Choir & Melody Makers
Director: Alison White
From September 2016 Liverpool Philharmonic Training Choir will be known as Liverpool Philharmonic Children's Choir
Liverpool Philharmonic Training Choir (school years 5, 6 & 7) and Melody Makers (school years 3 & 4) offer an excellent introduction to choral singing. The choirs sing a wide range of enjoyable and exciting music with performance opportunities throughout the year at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and other venues.
Recent performances include the premičre of James MacMillan's Little Mass with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in March 2015 and The Big Proms Bear Hunt for the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, London, in September 2013. This performance was broadcast live on BBC Radio 3.
Both choirs perform every Christmas in an extremely popular series of family concerts at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, alongside the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
As well as receiving outstanding choral training under the direction of Alison White, Liverpool Philharmonic Training Choir and Melody Makers benefit from weekly sessions of general musicianship and sight-singing.
When do the choirs rehearse?
Both choirs rehearse every Monday evening in Liverpool during term time.
Will my child need to pass an audition?
No. We welcome everyone who loves singing and wants to learn more.
How much does it cost?
£66 per year. Fees may be paid in instalments, and bursaries are available in cases of financial hardship. Uniform costs are additional and will total no more than £13.
How do I apply?
There are currently waiting lists for both choirs, but you can add your child's name to either list by completing the form below.
Due to long waiting lists, you are only able to add your child to the waiting lists once they turn 7. If we receive applications for children who are under 7 you will be contacted and asked to re-apply once your child turns 7.
We will contact you in the event of your child reaching the top of the waiting list and there being a place available in the relevant choir.
